Robot Mower Stories 3: A Cozy New Year in the Garden

This year, the Smiths decided to throw a New Year's Eve party in their garden, inviting their family, friends and me.

The guests went wild from the moment they arrived. I guess that's what New Year's Eve does to people. The excitement was pure gold. Even during the high spirits, the Smiths didn't forget about me. They dressed me up with a scarf and a party hat to keep me warm. Throughout the evening, visitors stopped by to pat me and wish me a 'Happy New Year!' I, of course replied in my own way and did a 360 degree spin.

A Cozy Garden Dinner

It's dinner time and the garden was transformed into a cozy haven. Outdoor heaters glowed softly, and guests wrapped themselves in blankets while… they stuff sprouts in their face. Deep inside I was hoping they'll drop some on the floor so I could have a nibble, but they were good at keeping the food on the dinner table. Good on them.

Movie Under the Stars

Mr. Smith had an outdoor movie set up after dinner. Guests settled into their seats and a classic New Year's film, New Year's Eve, flickered onto the screen. I got a perfect view from my spot near the edge of the garden. Midway through the movie, the sky erupted in fireworks. I adjusted my position slightly to get a better angle. I was thinking, humans are really quite interesting. They would scream and dance over explosions in the sky… 

Countdown and Celebration

As midnight approached, the countdown began. Everyone gathered near the fire pit, with excitement. When the clock struck twelve, everyone screamed. It scared the life out of me. Honestly, at this point, I just wanted to find some leftover turkey and find someone, or something that shared the same values as me. Just when I thought I had to listen to humans celebrate all night, that's when I saw… A mini robot with lights! Was it mowing the grass? Where was it hiding all this time? Guess it was too quiet for me to realise. Alright, it's time to chase it down and let the dog inside me run wild.
